What is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?
A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Instead of using synthetic materials, the procedure uses liposuction to remove excess fat from areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or love handles. This fat is then purified and carefully re-injected into the buttocks to create a fuller, more youthful, and natural-looking appearance. The BBL is celebrated for providing both body contouring and a more prominent, shapely backside.
Recovery After a BBL:
● Post-Surgical Care: After surgery, you will experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. This can typically be managed with prescribed pain medications. Your surgeon will provide detailed aftercare instructions to promote proper healing.
● Avoid Sitting on the Buttocks: One of the most important aspects of BBL recovery is avoiding sitting directly on your buttocks for at least 2-3 weeks to prevent pressure on the fat grafts and ensure they “take.” You will likely be instructed to sleep on your stomach or sides during this period.
● Compression Garment: You will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks after the procedure to help reduce swelling and support the liposuctioned areas as they heal.
● Physical Activity Restrictions: You should avoid strenuous physical activities, including exercise and heavy lifting, for 4-6 weeks after surgery. Gradually return to your normal activities as you heal.
● Swelling and Bruising: Swelling and bruising are common in the first few weeks following surgery. The final shape of your buttocks will become more apparent within 2-3 months, once the swelling subsides.
